Project: Dwelling For Inspiration
3rd Year 1st Term project-
Dwelling For Inspiration
Project Objective-
A Residence is a self-contained unit of accommodation used by one or more households as a home. But due to huge population in urban context and scarcity of open breathing spaces, greeneries, water bodies, etc., which is now a common phenomena and persistent difficulties with other utilities, residential environment is fast losing its living ambiance. To accommodate the different functional spaces in a multi-storied building satisfying the emotion of the people is now become a practical challenge.
Students need to create sensible relationship between built form, structural systems, material use and environmental conditions with that of the ordering principles. They had to come up with most functional and contemporary design solutions respecting the site context and culture for inspiring the people.

Concept of ‘street’, ‘garden’ and ‘square’ were the key elements of the design. One was entering a luminous hall thanks to the light coming from its roof from a dimly lit existing showroom space. Naturally this was causing one’s eyes to be dazzled. We thought about connecting these two spaces with a buffer zone. In this way one could have entered to the luminous space with ‘slow’ but ‘balanced’ change of light after a curiosity awakening trip in a curvilinear path. This has become the expression of the ‘street’ idea.
